The Glenthompson Dunkeld Football Netball Club competes in the Mininera & District Football League. We pride ourselves on being a well respected family and community orientated club that is welcoming to everyone.
The Rams were formed in 2004 as the result of a merger between the Glenthompson Football Netball Club (Bloods) and Dunkeld Football Netball Club (Kangaroos).
Prior to merging with Dunkeld, the Glenthompson Football Netball Club had competed in the Mininera and District Football League for more than half a century, winning senior grade flags in a number of years. Dunkeld had enjoyed a similarly lengthy involvement in the competition but had proved rather less successful, procuring just a single senior grade premiership in 1976.
In 2010 the Rams won their first MDFL flag, topping the ladder with 16 wins from 16 matches before accounting for Tatyoon in the grand final by 49 points.
Since the merge in 2004, the netballers have brought home the silverware on a number of occassions including a stunning performance in both A Grade and B Grade in 2019 to come home as Premiers and Champions.
We are also very fortunate to have the amount of juniors that we do. Our two communities have produced a great number of locals throughout the years and even now families from other communities are wanting to join in our success. Our juniors, both football and netball, are the epitome of club success and club culture. Without them, our club would not exist.
Beneath our famous mountains we were born
Remnants of two clubs almost gone
Together we stand, together we fall
As we chase that little leather ball
The more that come, the more we tame
You bloody beauty, we've won another game
We are the pride of Glen/ Dunkeld
We wear maroon, blue and gold
We will always fight for victory
Like the Bloods and Roos of old
All for one and one for all
We will answer to the call
Go RAMS, the mighty rams
We'll kick the winning score
And you'll hear our might roar!
